One of the core tenets of being a baddie is self-care and how can you practice self-care without giving your body some good, healthy, home-cooked meals? Now, don’t worry if you don’t know how; there are many options to brush up on your culinary skills.
The most popular—and arguably, the most fun—option is cooking classes. It doesn’t even matter if you just want to whip up an Uncle Roger-approved egg fried rice or impress Gordon Ramsey—there’s something for you.
There are many places in the UK offering classes so you can take your pick. But if you want my stamp of approval, here are my favorites.
Le Cordon Bleu, London
Le Cordon Bleu is a well-known cooking school—and rightly so. They offer short cooking classes for newbies and cooks. You can learn French baking, knife skills, top-chef dishes— whatever cut it for you— here. And it doesn’t take that long too ( lasts a few hours to a few days).
Cookery School at Little Portland Street, London
This school has so many classes— amateur or pro. You can learn to bake bread, make pasta, or cook fish. They focus on hands-on learning, so you’ll get plenty of practice.
Waitrose Cookery School, Various Locations
Waitrose Cookery School is all over the UK— even London and Salisbury. The deal? Teaching you to cook healthy meals, bake desserts, or make dishes from around the world. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You have classes for all ages ( even family-friendly sessions).
The Cookery School at Daylesford, Gloucestershire
The Cookery School has several classes, one for every skill level, so you can start from scratch or build on what you already know. And guess what? It’s hands-on!
Square Food Foundation, Bristol
I have been here a couple of times and can say this is your best bet for themed classes—like vegetarian cooking and seasonal meals. You can join a supper club or take a class on reducing food waste. It’s a great way to learn new skills while having fun.
Ashburton Cookery School, Devon
Do a little due diligence: this place is the rave. From bread making, meat cooking to pro-level pastry skills, I can tell you that Ashburton Cookery School is your sure bet.
The Avenue Cookery School, London
Looking for informal cooking classes? Then this London school is your answer. Here, a full English breakfast, making sushi, and baking a cake is the focus. But that’s not all. They have evening and weekend classes too—exactly what you need if your schedule is tight.
Edinburgh New Town Cookery School, Edinburgh
Think you have a thing for Indian cooking, Italian dishes, or seafood? This is your place. You won’t just learn something new but do so in a short time. And they have quite a storm of people confirming this.
Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School, East Yorkshire
This school has a range of short classes. You can learn to bake, cook Thai food, or even take a BBQ masterclass. It’s a friendly place to top your cooking skills.
Leiths School of Food and Wine, London
Leiths is another well-known cooking school in London. They have short classes in baking, pastry making, and guess what? Knife skills. Classes are open for newbies and more pro cooks. You will definitely enjoy being here.
Short cooking classes are a great way to top your cooking skills, try new recipes, and meet other food lovers. Wherever you are—London, Edinburgh or anywhere else in the UK—there’s a class for you.
